What do elementary school teachers have to do at the end of the school day?

I’m curious about this because I want to teach elementary and even with all the fieldwork and student teaching I’ve done in college I still wonder if at the end of the day when all the kids have gone home, is that the end of the day for the teachers as well? Or does the principal expect you to volunteer for after school programs, do you stay in your room and do lesson planning?

How does transferring from home school to public high school work?

How could I get my daughter into a neighboring school district without moving?

When I tried to register her, we were told she is supposed to go to another one, which is not as good. We are really close to the border of the school zone to the school we prefer. Unfortunately, this school does not accept students who are not in their zone. What are my options other than private school? I really would like for her to attend the better school.

When does elementary school holiday/break start in 2008 after the new school year?

I heard the school year starts in August or early September. In Australia we have four terms a year with 2 week holidays for the kids in between each term. When is the next short school break or holiday for schools in America? Not the new start of the new school year huge break before August in 2009. Im looking for the date when kids might have 1-3/4 weeks of school after starting the new school year.
